Thank You: A Letter to You

Dear ______________,

While I have spent the past thirty minutes trying to find the correct audience to address, I realized that we have a more than just a singular noun to thank. I challenge you to fill in your own blank. So, whether you purchased a fresh Melitota Turkey, shared our Facebook post with your friends, or bought some merch, thank you.

When I received the news of opening the dairy barn doors for something other than my future wedding, my first thought was anything but excited. Working with family can be difficult. From my past experience, you can get fired and hired back within the hour. The pay is often just $2 bills that no one wants. And you have to spend the holidays across the table from your boss. But wow, I really missed the mark this time.

Working with my family on Melitota Turkeys was anything but a chore. I could not be more proud to be a member of the Debnam Family. I have watched my cousin work harder than anyone I know. Ellie played the key role of Pond View Farm's right hand lady all while virtually attending college in her "free time." I worked closely with my grandfather, father, and uncle to sharpen my poultry knowledge as well as learning agriculture business tactics through a hands-on approach. I may be the voice behind the brand but Melitota's work horses reside on Great Oak Landing Road.

From the very bottom of our hearts, we thank you for purchasing your holiday bird from Melitota Turkeys. Not only did you support a local business but a local family. It has been a pleasure meeting the many faces behind your messages. Your kind words and posts have meant the world to our family. Our inaugural season was such a success I think we might just be back for many years to come. I look forward to seeing you next November.

Here's to ending the year on a high note,

Caroline Debnam
